Bop, Cool Jazz

Film music styled Bop and Cool Jazz feeling from the 50’s! Picked up a copy of this Jazz West Coast in a vinyl shop on Söder in Stockholm called Mickies. It was the Art Pepper reference that attracted my attention.

Turns out this is a very nice collection of arrangements by Marty Paich, who was the arranger for the theme music to the Ironside TV series.

Originally recorded June 30, 1959 – July 12, 1959 and released in the USA on I Get A Boot Out Of You, which gives the following list of credits;

Bass – Joe Mondragon

Drums – Mel Lewis

French Horn – Vince DeRosa

Piano – Russ Freeman

Saxophone – Art Pepper , Bill Hood , Bill Perkins

Trombone – Bob Enevoldsen , George Roberts

Trumpet – Al Porcino , Conte Candoli , Jack Sheldon

Vibraphone – Vic Feldman
